Test transmissions took place in Luxembourg, beginning in 2015 from Dudelange and reported in various forums during 2018. The transmission provider BCE reports that the site Hosingen has been equipped with a DAB antenna to allow SFN tests with Dudelange and "possible commercial exploitation".
In 2023, the regulator published a proposed timeline for the deployment of DAB/DAB+. Enabling legislation is proposed to take place this year. The operation of a national multiplex that will broadcast on Block 7D was advertised in August 2024. The advertisement specifies that a maximum of 12 audio services may be broadcast, and that the operator must bring into service the Hosingen, Dudelange and Napolëonsgaard transmission sites within six months of the licence being awarded. Within 18 months, coverage should be expanded to include the transmission sites that have been co-ordinated for this multiplex with neighbouring countries. The operator's licence will last for 10 years and the closing date for applications is October 11th 2024.
